Brighter Days?

I can report with confidence that my leg is getting better, albeit slowly. I ran an easy 25 minutes on Friday; 5 minutes more than I ran the day before. On Saturday I ran just over 30 minutes. I seem to be walking that tight line between injury and fitness. My lower leg does not hurt nearly as bad as it did during/after last week's runs, but it is still sore. I'm still icing and taking Ibuprofen and massaging the area when applicable...though, the pain and creakiness experienced when I stretched my leg earlier this week is mostly gone. I still have a long way to go. This will be my lowest week of mileage since February of 2008.

I have just one week before the 5k (which I might end up dropping if I am not 90%) and 2 weeks before the big dance. Last September, Philly made a fool out of me. I want my revenge; I want to own that course. I hope to be back up to respectable training come Monday and then ease into the taper during the next two weeks. Work will soon pick up considerably and I'm currently slated to leave the country for 2 weeks the day after the half marathon. If so, Philly will be my last stand as I don't expect to train much while away. This is my last hurrah and I don't want to go silently into the night. I am in great shape and I can race fine and I know if I can get to the starting line, I will feel no pain. Then, there will be time for rest...and then a regroup. BUT, not before I take on the City of Brotherly Love.
