The Endless CCT

I ran, again, on the CCT last night. The trail passes literally next to my office building so it's easy to hit every night after work. Though, it is going to get boring quick.

I ran an easy 4 before meeting up with Bain and JARRIN for another (almost) 8. We ran pretty slow but I am trying to keep my easy days pretty easy, so this is fine.

My Achilles seems to be back to normal and I will test it tonight at the track: 12 x 400m (200) at 70...then work my way down. This my last "hard" workout before the big 5k in 2+ weeks. After this, it's simply maintenance. I have an all out mile next weekend...that should be interesting. I ran an easy 5 miles this morning.

WORKOUT RESULTS
12 x 400m (200)

Temps in the mid-60s, but very windy (ie - 34point into wind/32point with wind)

67, 67, 67, 67, 68, 67 (by myself...the next 6 I was joined by Diego) 67, 66, 65, 65, 65, 67

My legs weren't very "spry" tonight and near the end I had that "muscle pull" feeling I had last week, but all is fine. Consistent, much not much of a cut down.

I'm a lurker on your blog. Just wanted to say that the CCT passes literally next to my office too and I've been exploring it as well during my lunch runs.

Anyway, keep up the good work on your blog. You're passion for running is very inspiring.

I've been meaning to ask you about that "no rail on the trail" race - which trail is getting chopped up for the Metro? That's too bad, obviously, but if they're adding a line that goes through Georgetown I guess it's something they need.

Lurker - thanks. Where do you work? I am at the intersection of Bethesda and Woodmont.

RM - I was not at the race...but heard it went well. The area affected by metro plans is the section from Bethesda to Silver Spring. Bethesda to Gtown will not be affected...so no metro there.

Man Georgetown could certainly use a Metro. I did not enjoy my walk back from Rosslyn to DuPont after the Marine Corps Marathon (don't ask).

Bethesda to Silver Spring...what are they doing, like a Red Line connector? I guess it is kind of annoying that you have to do a big U to get from one to the other when you could just cut across. That was always a complaint for College Park, which is why they started talking about some mythical Purple Line being built.

I'm at Montgomery and Wisconsin. Very close by. :)

FOX FLASH:

I saw a red fox on my ride yesterday. It was so vivid, and curled up in a ball on the side of the road as if it was sleeping. But it was dead. A dead, red fox. Or a sleepy fox.

THEN a hundred feet later I saw another one. This time it was much more dispersed on the road.

Poor foxes.
