A Push

As scheduled, and per doctor's orders, I took Monday off, but I met up with CTR, Dusen and a guy named Ben on Tuesday for a run up Rock Creek and through Garrett Park. Before the run I hit the gym in my condo for some core work/leg stretches. I can't begin to say how much I hate doing these...but I suppose I must. I've now set an alarm clock at work so that I can execute these in the afternoon. I think (hope) it will make a difference.

On Wednesday I woke a little later and didn't start running until 7:30. I was running solo and I figured I'd push the pace some. I checked my watch and immediately settled into 6:15 pace. After 23 minutes I made it to the Walter Reed Annex trails and took it easy through the meandering brown path. Through a sea of green clovers and shamrocks I ran past geese standing sentry over eggs and past the morning dog walkers I've run past for half a decade. The temperature was warm and I was feeling spry. Once I got out of the trails I relaxed my stride and picked up my cadence. I hit a 11:30 2-mile near the end of my run and then jogged the last mile home. It felt great to move fast.

On Thursday I met Luff, Karl and a Bethesda-visiting Charlie Ban for an easy 7. I was a bit sore from yesterday's run, but I am fine with that since I have Friday off again.

Nowhere in this "training" blog do you mention your strong 16oz repeats session on Wednesday evening.

In other news, I am a dual citizen now. Just passed Vermont Bar.
