New Strategy: Chiropractor

When I hit 50 minutes, I knew it was time to throw in the towel. My leg locked up and my stride slackened. I started to stretch, but I knew that this was a short term fix. A double decker tour bus puffed past me without a soul on board and I was this close to asking the guide for a ride back towards Georgetown. But for some reason I didn't. I shuffled over the bridge and left Hains Point. I got going again but never felt comfortable. I shut it down for good some two miles later and walked the last 1/4-1/2 mile back to the Store. This surprised me some since last night my 5 mile run went rather swimmingly - further evidence that this injury is predictably unpredictable.

I met with Sarah after the run and she said my SI joint was all locked up. This seems to be the same old song. She "could see me twice a day, but that's the only way to maybe correct this problem". It is now time to see a chiro. I've been given a name for someone in Arlington and I'll ring that office on Monday morning and get the low down. The reports I've read from this office are promising...

Not a bad plan. The last time I saw a chiro for an injury (Dr. Josh Glass in Atlanta in 2005), I went from not walking to running pain free in 24 hours. I thought it was my hip/butt as well, but after one treatment to my back and subsequent bi-monthly treatments, I felt right as rain.

Keep the hope alive...

I've never been, but only heard positive things about going to chiros. It will be pricey, but I'm at the point where I'll do whatever it takes to get back up and running.

A good place to start when looking for a chiropractor is to ask your primary care physician or spine specialist for the names of chiropractors who appear competent and trustworthy. It also helps to ask friends, co-workers and neighbors for recommendations.
