Hidden in the Water

It should be noted that it's an outdoor pool. By the time 7:30pm rolls around it's dark and cool and there are just a few lonely souls swimming laps. The pool stays open year round and I even read that they might be late in opening it somedays because they need time to dig a path to the pool through the snow. Seriously.

Yesterday the air was cold for the first time since Snowpacolypse. Above, geese honked as they flew south. This is only going to get worse. I pulled the brim of my baseball cap down to my forehead then slithered into the warm pool. It took me about 15 minutes to warm up and another 5 minutes to get the sweat flowing. The guards now walk by clad in sweatshirts and wind pants; their rescue tube slung over their shoulders at the ready. No one sees me. I am all alone in the deep end pounding away. There is a sliver of light that blazes from a lamp in the left, but that is it. I hear a few swimmers chatting with one another between reps, but for the most part the pool is deadly silent except for my huffs and puffs and some swimmer grunts.

I keep fighting a sore throat/loss of voice and I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the gulp of chlorine I tend to swallow every evening? Seriously...I wonder. Or does it have something to do with being in warm water with my head (throat) above water in cool air? I have to say I felt my upper leg muscles while walking around yesterday...perhaps a result of NOT pool running on Sunday? I am still figuring things out I guess, but I know this all be good for me.

Sore throat/loss of voice most definitely is the pool. Particularly since it is outdoors and it's not warm anymore.

What pool is this that stays open year round outdoors?
