The 5k was a failure. I had been training with this race in mind for months. Though, in retrospect I should have known better. Most, if not all, collegians peak in May. I would be way ahead of their schedule since I was trying to peak in early April (Cherry Blossom) and therefor this race would not be a fast race. Last years results are not especially fast...but I thought (and hoped) this year would be different. This was definitely not the optimal race to run if I was trying to run 14:40s.
All that being said, I also did not run to my potential. I can bitch and moan all day and night about how the race didn't go out faster and how others did not run faster, but that won't do anyone any good...even my conscience. Three guys beat me so I have no right to complain.
Failure is not necessarily a bad thing. Failure keeps you in check. Failure is what enables success. You must lose to win. There is another 5k at UMD in May. May is when the stallions peak. May is when I will get my revenge.
