The sidewalks and bike paths are a mess and my guess is that they will be for awhile. They aren’t plowed but are still continuously trekked on making the paths ankle twisters. If the weather stays cold, the Towpath and other running trails will be rendered useless for long runs. We need a thaw. Luckily I was able to venture off the sidewalks and onto the streets for one of my cliché 10 mile runs. It felt good to run on pavement but I almost bit it a few times while running over black ice. By the end of the run my legs were quite tired and, in some places, sore. All this is to be expected when negotiating slick sidewalks and icy snow.
