Eyes Ahead

My legs are still sore, but I feel strong. The last three days have been tiring; it's a weird feeling. I feel like I have plenty of speed in my legs, but it is extremely tiring to push the pace in any way. I don't think I've ever felt this way after a 10 miler before - it's almost as if I ran a marathon. I am not helping myself by running some rolling hills (not intentional, just happenstance).

I decided to nix the Wednesday workout this week and instead hit next week hard. Though, yesterday I tried to run 10 miles at a good clip, but even 6:40s felt too tiring. I should be back up around 75 this week and then 70 next week...then I taper back down south of 60...again. I've never tried a double taper before, but I think it will work.

I've taken the past few days to start looking at my fall race schedule. I signed up for Army 10 Miler; I seem to have this distance nailed down. ATM was the first 10 miler I ever ran back in the fall of 2006. Since then, I have brought my time down almost 2 minutes in that distance.

Fall 2006 - Army Ten Miler - 53:22 - 5:20 pace
Spring 2007 - Cherry Blossom - 52:53 - 5:17 pace
Spring 2008 - Cherry Blossom - 52:37 - 5:15 pace
Fall 2008 - Army Ten Miler - 52:26 - 5:14 pace
Spring 2009 - Cherry Blossom - 51:29 - 5:08 pace
