73 miles...

...in the last 7 days. This is my highest mileage total since pre-taper back in mid-September. I am feeling good and have no hip pain. I'll keep at it, hovering around the 70 mark, for a few weeks...then I'd like to start some modest workouts.

I ran a cold 9.5 this morning with Double C and Bain. Hard to get going as the temp was around 30. It's the first run of the year in which I used ear protection. To date, I've been running in my trademark baseball cap hats. Also tried running in my new Nike jacket. Seems to work well - not too heavy and works well against the wind. Thumbs up. Phil Knight - send me a check! Anyways, I shouldn't quip about the weather - it'll get a lot colder before it gets warmer.

As I type I am likely getting hosed by the car mechanic...but what can I do? $750 in repair...but I know my car needs it. Right? Plus, I haven't put any real money into the car since buying it. I hate spending money on cars and I hate spending money on health/doctors. The latter I can certainly justify, but walking into a doctor's office and throwing down a $15-30 co-pay just for someone to tell you to "take Advil and be observant" just doesn't sit right with me. I don't have any major health issues, but I think we can all relate to that. Spending money on cars makes me angry. My fists clench at the thought of it. It's evil. To all the car mechanics who read my blog, don't worry I'm not talking about YOU.

Fox, I hear you on the doctor situation. I know I've got something pretty wrong with me and the smart money would be getting checked out - but what's the point if they just tell me to take time off? I can do that on my own.
